One of the most important transitions you can make during your recovery is either your first step into addiction treatment or your next step after short-term intensive inpatient treatment. Too often, recovering teens struggle to return back to their normal home life and relapse because many inpatient facilities are not able to help their residents apply necessary skills to everyday life. This is especially true if you suffer from a co-occurring disorder.
At Sustain Recovery, our goal is to create an adolescent extended care environment that helps you either apply the tools you have gained during inpatient care and apply them to a meaningful life outside of a recovery facility or learn these tools in the first place. Whether that involves finding a job, completing chores or maintaining healthy coping methods, we’ll help strengthen your drive to continue your sobriety.
Addiction Recovery in Everyday Life
The transition from short-term intensive care or your home environment to a teen outpatient program can be a drastic one, and you may be left wondering how you can apply the necessary coping strategies to the real world. Contending with negative influences and refraining from drugs or alcohol can be much more difficult in an environment that lacks control and structure.
If you are a family unit, you may struggle with how to provide the most supportive and nurturing environment for your loved one, which can lead to tension and confusion at home. Sustain Recovery makes use of the structure that was implemented during inpatient care or creates a new one, continues it throughout extended care and provides the framework for you to practice this same structure outside of a treatment facility.
You and your family will learn life skills that are widely applicable in the real world, and each teen is supported by the caring staff at Sustain Recovery as well as the outlying community.
Your Road to Sober Living
At our core is the 12-step process, schooling, adult living skills and, of course, fun. You’ll stay in one of our Irvine residences for a minimum of 90 days, but may stay longer depending on your individual treatment program. Drug tests are performed at random in the residences.
We provide treatment for addictions to:
- Opiates
- Marijuana
- Cocaine
- Alcohol
- Xanax
- And others
You may also participate in individualized drug and alcohol counseling, support groups, individual and family therapy, independent and adventure learning and vocational training, which are each woven into the ongoing elements of the transitional process and laid out in a daily schedule for you. Depending on your addiction, co-occurring disorder, as well as your personal requirements or desires, you can participate in therapeutic sessions such as music and cinema therapy, nutrition recovery, MMA boxing and more.
We are Here for You
Recovery for any individual is difficult, but for teenagers, it can be even more challenging and confusing. It’s important that you have a staff supporting you that is understanding and empathetic toward your values, beliefs and goals so that you feel supported throughout your time at Sustain Recovery.
Each member of our team has experience working with adolescents and building individualized treatment plans on what you enjoy and benefit from the most. With a 3:1 staff-to-client ratio, you will receive the personal care you need to live a meaningful and sober life.
Additionally, Sustain Recovery is fully licensed by the Department of Social Services to provide care specifically for adolescents suffering from abuse and co-occurring disorders.
How Can You Get Started?
When you decide to stay with Sustain Recovery, you will have a counselor by your side from the very beginning. They will help you adjust to your new surroundings and incorporate our phase system into your everyday life. Your counselor may help you complete chores, process your daily schedule, maintain a safe environment for yourself and others, and establish healthy, everyday living overall. These are some of the first steps you will take when transitioning into the real world, so it’s important that you have a support-system in place to help you start the journey.
