Therapist
Cecilia Pla is a licensed marriage and family therapist that has been providing mental health services to children, adolescents, and families since 2007. Cecilia gained her education in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy at Azusa Pacific University. Cecilia began her career working with foster youth providing oversight in foster homes and case management services.
Cecilia began gaining clinical experience in 2008 working with children and families providing in home and school based mental health services. During this time Cecilia became certified in trauma focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT) and managing and adapting practice (MAP) evidenced based practices. Cecilia has experience providing individual, group, and family therapy to children, adolescents, and their families. Cecilia has experience treating depression, anxiety, trauma, behavioral disorders, self-harm, suicidal ideation, substance abuse and children with developmental/cognitive challenges.
Cecilia has experience in various level of care from outpatient, intensive outpatient, and residential services. Since 2017, Cecilia began providing clinical supervision to trainee and associate level therapists. Cecilia has experience providing clinical trainings to clinical staff and consultation with multidisciplinary treatment teams.
Cecilia takes a strength-based approach in her work with the clients that she serves. Cecilia focuses on building upon those strengths to assist in alleviating stressors and symptoms that are causing impairments. Cecilia believes in creating safety in the therapeutic relationship using unconditional positive regard.
